No!After many years of speculation, the US Air Force decided in August 2022 that Raf Mildenhall would not be closing and would instead be subject to further developments. RAF Lakenheath which is located a couple of miles away has been under development for years now so it can accommodate the new F-35 Fighter Jets.
RAF Mildenhall is home to the refuelling squadron. Landlords and home owners were initially concerned about the proposed closure of RAF Mildenhall but can now breathe a sigh of relief that the 48th Refuelling Squadron and its members are here to stay for the foreseeable future.
