Who was Beatrice Carter?

So here it is!
-
Beatrice Carter (Formerly Beatrice Cornell) was born in the 19th century near Mildenhall, she was a local lady who married James Carter, a farmer and a respected man throughout Mildenhall. They had 7 Children, of which only one survives, who is our Great Aunt Beryl, she has recently turned 98 years old and can remember her mother and father farming their Land which is where Field Road now sits. Beryl also remembers the World Famous 1934 "Mildenhall to Melbourne Air Race" setting of from Mildenhall Aerodome (RAF Mildenhall). Mildenhall's runway was one of the largest in the World at the time

James and Beatrice owned and farmed the land which is now where Mildenhall Industrial Estate and all of the College Heath Road Estate Sits. The land was compulsory purchased by the Council at the end of the war. However this did not make them wealthy as the government gave them a pittance of what it would have been worth. However, James Carter's legacy lives on as there is a Road names after him on the Industrial Estate which has secured his place in Mildenhall's history for years to come. James acquired the land from Trinity College in Cambridge.

The reason why the business was called Beatrice Carter Property was due to Beatrice renting out her property in the 40's during the war time. Beatrice and James lived a full life and we are so pleased that we are able to continue their legacy through our hard work!
